Objective
The goal of this project was to create a brochure giving a six step explanation on how to do something. Each step required its own icon with accompanying graphic elements, as well as an explanation to clarify instruction.
The brochure needed to open in order starting from step one to step six, as well as include a front and back cover.
My Approach
I tasked myself with creating a guide on how to keep an indoor cat happy. Many cat owners are often unaware of how to properly entertain their indoor cat. This can cause them to act out, become depressed, or try to escape outside. Keeping your beloved pet mentally and physically stimulated will keep them healthy and safe.
Sketches & Inspiration
While looking for inspiration, I came across Hello Kitty posters and wanted to create something similar. I wanted to include cute elements surrounding the cat like seen in the posters.

Color & Type
I used green, pink, and blue pastels to keep the sweet aesthetic. As for the cat, I gave it a solid charcoal color to help it stand out from the busier design elements.
As for the type I used Giulia Bold for its rounded, cute and handwritten looking characteristics.

Design Elements & Patterns
For the design elements, I wanted a different toy animal for each step that cats are typically attracted to. To effectively make them look like toys, I gave each one button eyes and patches. I then paired these toys with other elements, including flowers and bows. I also included stars and hearts which were inspired by doily pillows.
For the patterns I kept it simple with stripes and polka dots. I kept the colors light so they add detail but don't distract from the important information.
